Description
A keto-friendly Southern-inspired casserole with turkey sausage, low-carb biscuits, and cheesy peppered gravy. Perfect for breakfast, packed with protein, and optimized for metabolic health.
Ingredients
Olive oil or avocado oil spray, as needed
10 ounces keto-friendly biscuit dough (high-protein or almond flour base)
1 pound bulk turkey sausage (sage or pepper seasoned)
1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese (divided)
6 large eggs (organic or pasture-raised)
½ cup whole milk or heavy cream
Salt and black pepper, to taste
Cold water, to mix
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Spray an 8-inch square baking dish with oil spray.
Roll out biscuit dough to ⅛-inch thickness and cut into 2-inch rounds. Arrange in a single layer in the dish.
In a skillet, cook turkey sausage until browned. Break into crumbles, add 1 cup cheddar, and stir to combine.
Pour sausage mixture over biscuit layer in the dish. In a bowl, whisk eggs, milk/cream, remaining ½ cup cheddar, salt, and pepper.
Pour egg mixture over sausage layer. Bake for 20 minutes.
Top with remaining cheese. Bake 15-20 minutes until golden and bubbly. Let rest 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Use frozen biscuit dough for speed.
Heavy cream reduces carb count further.
Leftovers taste better refrigerated overnight.
Substitute almond flour dough for extra protein.
Avoid pork-based products (already turkey sausage in recipe).
