Description

A hearty casserole combining seasoned ground beef, buttery crescent dough, and crushed Doritos for a textural twist. Layers of meat, cheese, and crunchy chips make this an easy, crowd-pleasing dish.

Ingredients

Ground beef (85/15 lean) 1 lb
Taco seasoning mix 1 oz pkg
Water 3 tbsp
Sour cream (full-fat) 8 oz
Crescent rolls (8 oz tube)
Tomato sauce 8 oz can
Diced tomatoes (14.5 oz can, optional)
Shredded cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend) 1 cup
Dorito chips (crushed) 3 cups
Garnish (lettuce, avocado, cilantro, as needed)

Instructions

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C)
Press crescent dough into a 9×13-inch baking dish
Brown ground beef in a skillet, drain fat
Mix in taco seasoning and water
Layer meat mixture over crust
Pour tomato sauce evenly over meat
Spread sour cream in a thin layer
Sprinkle shredded cheese
Add crushed Doritos on top
Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden
Let cool 5 minutes before serving

Notes

Drain diced tomatoes well to avoid excess moisture
Use plain tomato sauce (no added spices)
Testing confirmed sour cream prevents cheese from drying out
For a deeper flavor, add 1 tbsp finely chopped jalapeños
